A brilliant white cross on the reddest background, a square flag, a pure blue–azul sky contrasting with red, flags symbolizing each canton, the SBB clock composed only of dots and lines, and the eternal Alpine flower, edelweiss: these are the images of Switzerland in my memory. The Korean word for Switzerland, “스위스,” also conjures the image of a Swiss mercenary standing tall on a mountain. I translated these images into graphics and used silkscreen printing to express them on square sheets of notepaper.
