B&W
Objects we reach for every day tend to offer comfort rather than overt specialness. B&W is a ceramic cup and coaster set designed to feel “good in everyday use.” The minimal “White” cup is shaped with gentle curves for a comfortable hold. Its thin wall and specially developed glaze create a soft translucency in the light. The “Black” coaster uses ripstop fabric provided by On; its water resistance prevents condensation from soaking in while its texture and tone contrast subtly with the ceramic. Created by Carson Hong with ceramic artist Seungjae Lee of Yeonhwadobang, the pairing settles naturally into everyday rituals.
Carson Hong
Carson Hong is the founder of ATELIER CARSON, a design office established in 2018 specializing in product, space, and strategy. He presents wide-ranging designs from homeware to environments in collaboration with global brands and individual clients. He served as Creative Director of Yido and Director of Design at First Canvas. Carson holds a master’s degree in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship from ECAL in Lausanne and a B.S. in Design Management from Yonsei University in Seoul.
